Where to shop: Mother of the Bride (or Groom)!

One of the most common questions we get is “where can I find a great mother of the bride (or groom) dress?” and we understand why, it can be tough to find good options!

Below you can find some inspiration for our wonderful moms along with guidance on where to shop, because we know how important it is for our moms to feel stylish, comfortable and beautiful on the big day!

First, we will start with some inspiration, because it can be hard to begin shopping without a vision. We are going to share some of our favorite looks for moms, then get into where to shop + some of our favorite brands.

Things to consider:

If you don’t know where to begin, we recommend thinking about the venue, dress code, wedding colors and overall vibe of the wedding. If the wedding is in South Carolina and black tie, the dress you choose may look very different than if the wedding were on the beach in La Jolla, California with a summer cocktail attire dress code. We love when parents lean into the theme and colors - it also provide a more cohesive look for all of the photos!

Inspiration

Below are some of our favorite Mother of the Bride/Groom looks to inspire you!

and finally… where to shop!

  1. Saks Fifth Avenue: They have always had the best dress selection in my opinion! Shopping online can sometimes be tough, so if you have one nearby I always like more when I see it in person. However if you don’t have a location nearby, I would order a few of your favorites options for an at-home try-on, then send back what you don’t love!

Below are some examples of dresses we found and loved. If these are sold out by the time you are reading this, hopefully they can help give you some ideas for styles to keep an eye out for:

    1. Strapless Bow Gown

    2. Parvati Off-The-Shoulder Gown

    3. Bonni Satin One Shoulder Gown

    4. Floral Brocade Ball gown

    5. Ruffled Floral Sleeved Gown

    6. Crepe Tucked Sleeve Column gown (bold, would be very fun for a colorful city wedding!)

    7. Long Sleeve Lace Belted gown

  2. Rebecca Vallance

Rebecca Vallance has always been one of my absolute favorite designers. Her gowns are so well crafted and she uses gorgeous high quality material that makes all of the difference. She is an Australian designer (like many of our bridal designers) and her styles are fashion-forward yet classy.

  3. Zimmermann

Zimmermann is another beautiful Australian designer. Her pieces are higher end but truly never disappoint. This brand releases fewer styles at once, so they may not always have the perfect style at the time but worth checking back or visiting their San Francisco boutique in Jackson Square!

  4. BHLDN

This is Anthropologie’s bridal line - it can be hit or miss for MOB dresses, but they do sometimes have beautiful options! Our mom got her dress from BHLDN for my wedding and it was gorgeous and well priced!

We hope this helped and wish you all the best in your search for the perfect dress!
